Series of videos looking at how we are aiming to make an old house 'draught free' and insulated using (in some parts of the house) open cell sprayed polyurethane foam for a) a frontage where the client wishes to keep the old brickwork visible - internal wall insulation b) a flat 1970's ceiling - with no roof finish renewal - internal insulation c) an attic - no roof finish renewal - insulation at joist level. Open cell waterborne polyurethane expanding spray foam characteristics we are making use of: allows free movement of water vapour, stops bulk movement of air (airtight), gap filling, GWP of 1. We are using the foam in combination with a 'variable vapour resistance' membrane (INTELLO) used internally for vapour management within the constructions and testing the influence and effectiveness of a new(ish) microporous brick cream on the external face of the brickwork walls. The wall construction we have designed is hoped to offer a way to insulate to a high level without giving rise to timber decay, black mould growth or damage to brickwork during frosty weather etc.
